Worn traditionally by Jews all over the world as a sign of respect for God, the yarmulke is a staple in Jewish wardrobes.
Handmade here in Vermont, each silk kippah features six-panel double-sided construction and measures 7" in diameter. One size fits most.
I have wanted this celadon sky blue yarmulke because it's beautiful, egoless and respectful. When I received it, I learned I wear as a black yarmulke, by turning the black silver lining, inside out. It's not busy as many Kippahs here are. I couldn't wear most of them. But I do keep a kosher kitchen: Kosher pork, clams, oysters and that kind of Orthodox fare. When one of the high holy holidays requires "fasting", I eat fast all day long! I am going to wear this on "Both Sides Now". I am a Jew and a Tibetan Buddhist. So, I go to two temples. I love Christmas and Hanukah! I've even fasted for 36 days for Ramadan. Happy High Holy Holidays-Eat Fast!!!
I had a custom yarmulke pattern made for me because I needed a bigger yarmulke but the custom one didn't fit at all. I chose to stay with the ones offered here instead. I wear it on Jewish holidays and the Sabbath. One good reason to be Jewish:Hanukah! :-)But I live in a small town where people can be very small. When I wear a yarmulke out, the anti-semitism is palpable.
I am a student of my teachers: Rinpoche who is believed to be the incarnation of Green Tara and Dalai Lama who is believed to be the incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. I have never heard either one of these men say, "there is no God."
These yarmulkes are very affordable but I wouldn't suggest buying one unless you can wear it w/bobby pins. I do think many of these Kippahs offered here are very "busy" with design and so compete with God just just a bit . This celadon blue yarmulke is subtle and special. It reminds not to think about my self, too much.
Peace!
They are so elegant and just the right size!
