Staff Profile - ProductionProduction: You Need What? WHEN?![]() Here's the bottom line when it comes to being a tie company in Vermont: You are nothing without the people who actually know how to make a tie – or a cummerbund, ascot, cravat, scarf, or vest, for that matter. Each member of the talented production department at Beau Ties is an unsung hero. Without them, no matter how many outstanding fabric choices we offer, we would be just another company having ties manufactured overseas and sold at the largest profit margin possible. With them, however, we are what might be considered an "artisanal" company – handcrafting one tie at a time, with pride and skill. It may surprise you to know how many steps there are in creating a tie (or any of our products). A 40-yard bolt of fabric is the starting place. Then, in a process as carefully choreographed as a Broadway musical production number, fabric is cut, lined, sewn, trimmed, flipped, pressed and closed before moving along to be added to the inventory shelves. Of course, that doesn't take into account all of the variations on the production theme. Some men want longer, shorter, wider, narrower, or pointier ties. Some prefer pre-ties, clip-ons, four-in-hand neckties, ascots, or cravats. There are even those who have us convert their neckties into bow ties. And have you ever thought about HOW a cummerbund gets all those pleats, and still shows the pattern of the fabric? It will make your head ache if you contemplate it for too long. Despite all of the various challenges tossed their way, our great production team members have rarely met a task too daunting. And, while making a tie may be almost second nature, they never cease to apply their creativity and skill to make Beau Ties the best in the business. Indeed, we couldn't guarantee our work if we couldn't depend on their dedication to excellence. When there are a few spare minutes (and there aren't all that many!), our production team makes bits and pieces of leftover silk into quilts to give to local seniors who could use a little extra warmth tucked around them on chilly Vermont days. These are the people who are creating our products for you, and who help make Beau Ties a very special kind of company. So here's to the sharp eyes, nimble fingers and kind hearts of Beau Ties' artisans.
