Cravats

Our handmade free-fold Cravat features three stitched center pleats that allow luxurious drape in front without fabric bulk at the wearer's nape. It is completely reversible and sized for a perfect fit: Neck sizes 14"-16", 16"-18", 18"-20", and 20"-22". May require a stick-pin. Available in any fabric except designs indicating no coordinates.

Cravats trace their lineage to the "Royal-Cravate" – the Croatian mercenaries of Louis XIII's 17th century cavalry. These soldiers popularized the wearing of neck ties, and these ties derived their name from the French "cravate" (a mispronunciation of Croat). Charles II introduced the cravat to England in the 1660's, explaining that "A cravatte is another kind of adornment for the neck being nothing else but a long towel put about the Collar, and so tyed before with a Bow Knott; this is the original of all such Wearings; but now by the Art and Inventions of the seamsters, there is so many new ways of making them, that it would be a task to name, much more to describe them".

How do I order Cravats?
Since Cravats are made to order, we do not have photos of each coordinate for each fabric.

To have any of our fabrics made as Cravats, simply enter the ordering information for your Cravats in the appropriate section of the order form on each individual bow tie (or necktie) page.

Because Cravats are made to order, please allow two to three weeks for delivery. Also, because they are made-to-order items, Cravats are non-returnable except for defects in material or workmanship. They are eligible, however, for our 3- and 6- item quantity discounts.
